The Mayor's Office of Community Assets and Investment today announced that Sydney Shivers will be joining as the office's new Deputy Director, beginning next week.
"Sydney's work demonstrates a strong commitment to equity and a passion for working with stakeholders to develop and implement policy solutions to combat our City's affordable housing crisis," says Nicole Heyman, Director of the Office of Community Assets and Investment. "I am excited to have her dynamic leadership as we partner with City agencies and external partners to advance the Cantrell Administration's commitment to affordable housing and creating amenity rich, inclusive communities across our city."
Sydney Shivers comes to the Cantrell Administration from the City Planning Commission, with a breadth of expertise in affordable housing development and land use policy. Prior to serving with the City Planning Commission, Shivers was on the staff of the Tulane Canal Neighborhood Development Corporation, where she collaborated with developers, community leaders and policy makers to stem displacement and create first time home ownership opportunities. Shivers graduated from the University of Virginia, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's of Urban and Environmental Planning, graduating with honors.
